Why Not Make a Day of it!
Not only is it the Roundabout Quilters’ Show, but 1.30 on
Saturday June 27th sees the opening of, “Thread, Colour and Stitch”,
the Basingstoke Branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild’s Exhibition. It’s at the Willis Museum in the Market
Square, five minutes’ walk from All Saints’ Church. There you can see an embroidery commissioned
by the Mayor for the Mayor’s Parlour, based on a Victorian map of
Basingstoke. Work from Basingstoke Young
Embroiderers will be displayed and there is a wide variety of exhibits –
traditional, contemporary, hand, machine and modern. In short, there’s something for everyone.
Should you fancy something else, unconnected with textiles,
the weekend sees the Cheese and Chilli Festival and a Sunday of family
fun. For further details see www.basingstokefestival.co.uk.
